Osgood-Schlatter's disease is a problem of young teenagers, particularly boys. It is the most common in teenagers who play a lot of sports like running, jumping or kicking.
These activities cause vigorous stress to the quadriceps muscles. Overuse of the quadriceps muscle can cause stress and strain on the attachment of the patella ligament to the growing tibial tuberosity. And consequent inflammation and pain at the site of the tibial tuberosity ensue. The main symptom is pain on the tibial tuberosity just below the kneecap (patella). It is usually worse during and after activity and becomes improve after rest.
