DJD is an abbreviation of degenerative joint disease. It means osteoarthritis. And it
causes deterioration of the joint cartilage (the soft parts of bones, which cushion their connections to each other) and it forms new bone (bone spurs) at the margins of the joints which can be seen by x-ray examination. DJD(osteoarthritis) usually occur at the knee, and the hip, ankle, finger joint, etc. Symptoms are pain and swelling.
If aggravates, effusion(fluid collection within the joint) is formed.
